This is a synthetic form of black iron oxide that runs about 1 micron in size compared the other black iron oxide that we sell that runs about 30 micron(500 mesh) in size. It is ideal for pigments and other uses where a very small particle size is desired. Also it is a truer black and has less contaminants and is very low in silica and heavy metals. Iron oxide has many uses including pigments, ceramics, welding (thermite), along with a wide range of other uses. As with all chemicals, iron oxide should be handled with care.
